We start the day with a scenic bus ride from Sommarøy Arctic Hotel to our Basecamp near Håkøya. Upon arrival, you will receive the necessary equipment along with clear instructions on how to dress properly to stay warm and safe on the Arctic water. Once you’re suited up, you will walk down to the shoreline and get settled into your kayak. Once you’re suited up, you will walk down to the shoreline and get settled into your kayak. Before heading out, your guide will give you easy-to-follow paddling instructions and a thorough safety briefing. In winter, you will usually paddle stable double kayaks, but single kayaks will be available on request if you can show sufficient kayaking experience.

During the winter season, you will often explore beautiful areas like Kaldfjorden and Eidkjosen. Depending on the weather and sea conditions, your route may take you through sheltered channels, between small islands, and across peaceful archipelagos. Wildlife is active all year, so as you glide over the calm Arctic waters, you will keep an eye out for sea eagles, otters, seals, and flocks of seabirds.

After the tour, you will return to our Basecamp to warm up by the fire with ahot drinks and snack, before heading back by bus to the Sommarøy Arctic Hotel.
